What is Impotence?
People have certain vanities, insecurities and sources of authority. For women, they usually have a different set compared to men. For example, women are focused with their overall looks whereas men consider their innate animal instinct towards sex as a source of strength. So what if this strength is taken away? What if impotence is on its way?
Yes, it is a sad fact for men that they can become impotent. Being impotent, a man can no longer achieve or sustain a desirable erection to facilitate intercourse. This condition, otherwise known as ED or erectile dysfunction, is serious in the sense that it hinders the man’s ability to procreate and have a satisfying sexual intercourse. Impotence is said to deter the normal functioning of male individuals as this can lead to lots of insecurities.
Impotence can be classified under two major domains. It can either be primary or secondary. Primary impotence is a rare occurrence for it has to be experienced by the male individual ever since he started to try his first sexual experience. For the latter, it is the most common form since it is happens after a certain period of having a normal ability to have an erection. Primary impotence is most likely due to psychological causes while secondary impotence may be a gradual change that most men will experience.
There is also no definite time when impotence will surely strike. Although most cases happen during the prime adult years for males, some can occur as early as the beginning of middle adulthood.
The etiology of impotence is known. Like its classification, the causes too are classified into two distinct categories. They are psychological and physiologic causes. Psychological causes, from the term itself, pertain to the mental faculties that impair the occurrence of a successful erection. Feelings of guilt and extreme anxiety are very good examples. On the contrary, physiologic causes can be attributed to a certain degree of abnormality to the male genitalia. The penis may be somewhat deviated or the man may suffer from a serious medical condition that leads to an impairment of the blood flow to the organ. All of these are said to be of physical nature. Moreover, most cases of impotence are said to have at least one biologic or physiologic cause. A single psychological etiology is seldom blamed in being the sole cause of the condition.
To counter the so-called debilitating or life changing effects of impotence, many forms of treatment have sprouted all over the place. Foremost, drugs are said to be the typical and first line of treatment for impotence. These drugs work by increasing the blood circulation towards the penis in order to attain a noticeable degree of erection. Viagra is a popular drug that is widely used up until today. In addition, there are also surgical approaches that are devised to address the problems caused by impotence. Although this treatment modality is rarely done, there is no doubt that this is gaining some amount of popularity today. Lastly, some may even utilize a combination of two or three treatment options just to solve impotence. This treatment combo usually involves a lifestyle change that is said to be a contributing factor in impotence.

Hi guys,
I just turned 21. And I am having problems lasting for more than 5-10 minutes. Needless to say it is not enough to statisfy my gf. What can I do? Is it impotence? (I do not have problems to get an erection, I just have problems lasting longer than 10 minutes) Should I see a doctor?
